Milestones

Seriously crazy day. It's like Caleb woke up and decided to start being a "boy" today. I am terrified at what is to come as I am not custom to hanging out with boys and quiet frankly I don't understand them. Right now Caleb is in his crib crying but it is the safest place for him. Just today he decided to start doing pull ups on our kitchen chairs ( I kid you not his feet were not on the floor) as well as move them all across the floor specifically so that he can get into the kitchen. We had the kitchen blocked off by chairs because he started to pull up on a rack that is unstable. I tell him "no" and he turns to me and smiles and does it anyway! He came to hang out with me in our bedroom (where the computer is) and used the cpu unit to pull up and pull Jared's socks off the laundry basket. It's like everywhere he goes now a mess will follow. I am constantly trying to track him down and he is not even walking yet!

Swimming Rocks!

Last week Caleb went swimming for the first time. We were at the McAvoy's house and the Anderson's drove 9 hours each way to join us! Jared put on Caleb's swimmer diaper and swimming shorts , we loaded him up with sunscreen and he was ready to go. He enjoyed the McAvoy's pool and it was fun to introduce him to something totally new. We bought him this "sunscreen buggy" inflatable but unfortunately I didn't read the age requirements. It was made for 18 months and above..oops! Caleb liked it anyway.

Sunday buddy

Most Sunday's after church we go to lunch with our life group which is always something I look forward to! Most Sunday's follow this routine: I go pick Caleb up from the nursery and just give Caleb to Brian. Brian Lee loves Caleb, not to say that others don't--I am pretty sure everyone is out life group loves Caleb. But somehow Caleb is always in Brian's arms. This picture was taken last week on Memorial Day...Caleb in Brian's arms with Randy's hat!

Like Father Like Son

Here are my "super-fly" men doing some serious sport activities. This was Caleb at 6 months in my dad's back yard and Jared at the church picnic a couple weeks ago. I actually "borrowed" this pic from Randy's blog.

A Good Weekend

For this stage of my life a good weekend is defined by visitors, going out somewhere new, sleeping and playing games with friends and family. This past weekend we were fortunate enough to have all of these factors. Jared's parents, Jim and Sue Herbert came down as well as Rachel M. On Saturday we got to hang out with Jared's parents and they got to hang out with Caleb. Rachel and Caleb Genesis stopped by for a visit as well and I was fortunate enough to spend some time with them. Here are some pictures resulting from the weekend:Here are the Caleb's and yes that is my son spitting up in all his glory.

Solid Foods

Caleb is now almost 7 months old and we have been introducing "solid" foods for the last month or so. So far he is partial to the yellow vegetables, although the green beans and pees evoke a comical reaction. Comical for the observer anyway. His bib reads "If you think I am cute you should see my Dad!"

Ant Saturday

A couple Saturday's ago we woke up to a serious ant parade. As many of you know (due to my complaining) there are several bug issues with our apartment here in Signal Hill. Usually we (actually Jared) takes out the trash every night so we don't even tempt the ants to make a visit. This particular Friday night Jared went to a Dodgers game and got back home late, so needless to say we had some visitors. Jared faithfully worked very hard for 4+ hours to rid our apartment of the "bodies".

Easter

We had a very relaxing Easter hanging out with family. Caleb was a little too relaxed:

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas last year celebrating with family and friends. Here is a pic of Caleb opening his presents:

Thanksgiving

Caleb's first thanksgiving. At G&G Herbert's house there are traditions. These traditions include aspic salad (don't ask) and football. Unfortunately Caleb and I didn't play this year but the important part to note about the game was that once again Jared's team lost for the 3rd straight year. Here is a pic of Caleb hanging out with his Great Grandpa and Grandma and his Great Uncle sporting his "bald is beautiful" onesie:

Caleb's visitors - Week 4 & 6

Here are Mark and Sara McAvoy...we will affectionately call them the "McAvoy's" and my parents.

Family Visit - Caleb's first week of Life

Jared's grandparents "G&G Cookie" came to visit Caleb as well as Aunt Becki and of course Gramma and Grandpa.

Welcome to Existence

So this is how it all started. One Saturday night, a week before my due date a desperate Kimmie asked her buddy Rachel for the "DDR" after all it worked for her. Earlier in the day we had dinner at Lucille's with our good friends Adam and Sarah...we will affectionately call them them the "Anderson's". Poor Sarah only got a couple hours of sleep before she was awakened with a call to come to the delivery room. Yes I am wearing Jared's sporty shorts none of mine fit me at the time.
I will spare you the 21 hours of detail and just show you the end result:

Everyone else is doing it...

So here I am, starting my first blog. Why? Because everyone else is doing it? Partly, but also because I thought it would be a great opportunity to "journal" while I am currently a "stay at home mama". I also can't help to look in the future and imagine Caleb being able to look back and see pictures of himself when he was a baby. He will be able to get a glimpse of what our life was like before he can remember by looking back in the archives....and that is pretty cool. Also when I mentioned it to my buddy Rachel she said, "I would love it if you started a blog". Unfortunately I don't know how to do that highlight thing when someone else has a blog. That's all for now I can't wait to figure out how all this works.
